How long does closing typically take?

With the standard Ohio purchase agreement, the clock starts the day your offer is accepted. The financing contingency defaults to 30 days, and the inspection window is much shorter, measured in days. That means a closing in our area is usually a matter of weeks, not months.

Right after signing, Ohio gives each side a three-day attorney review window. Either party can back out for any reason during those three days, which is why your attorney and agent review the whole contract immediately.

Every date in the contract gets tracked carefully: earnest money deadlines, inspection response dates, financing commitment, and the closing date itself. Missing any one of them can cost you the deal, which is exactly the kind of detail I managed for decades in compliance work.
